Book #5 - Sweet Liar

Book #5

This book is called Sweet Liar and it is another Jude Deveraux book.
After I got done with one of Jude's books (cant remember which) there was a summary of this book.  I read it and fell in love with the story line, so when I noticed that I had it on my shelf and that Bethany also had it I made sure it was the next book we were reading.  The male in the story (Mike) seems pretty incredible.  Beautiful body and treats the main character like a princess.  What girl wouldn't like a rich, strong man to come along and treat her like a princess and go on a shopping spree with her.   I sure know I would love for that to happen.  Maybe if I was skinnier though.  I can't wait to see what this book has in store for me.

New Book #3 - The Peach Keeper

Book #3

I am a little behind on updating this blog but not by much.  The was the book I decided to exchange for book #3.  Its called "The Peach Keeper."  This book was sent to me by Bethany  before my husbands birthday (April 14th).  When I opened the box to the book I immediately started reading it.  Bethany said it was a really good book and since I was bored at the moment I read the first chapter.  It sucked me in so I kept reading it.  I finished it a couple weeks ago and loved it.  It was a unique story about friendship and when I finished it the first thing that popped into my mind was "Awww."  It also made me thing about my friendship with Bethany.  We have a great friendship and this book pointed out how important these types of friendships are.   I would recommend this book to anyone.  Its great read for anyone of all ages.

Update on Book #3 - Thicker Than Water

While I have been busy doing other things, and then finally managing to finish A Knight In Shining Armor, I have lost all my desire to read this book.  As I think back on the story line that I have read so far it definitely is not what I want to be reading at this time in my life.  I will probably come back to it later but for now I am going to replace it will something else.  I have yet to decide which book that will be but as soon as I do I will create a new post with "New book #3."  I can't wait to get back into the grove of reading again.  Bethany has read so many books during my absence and its going to extremely hard to catch up but I am willing to try.  Cheers to reading.

Update on Book #4 - A Knight In Shining Armor

I finally finished A Knight In Shining Armor.  If I knew it was going to take this much time to finish the book I would have never started it.  This book was very frustrating for a long time.  This is the only book that Jude Deveraux has managed to get on the New York Times Best-seller list.  It is also In the top 100 Romance Novels of all time.  They say that it is the fantasy that any girl/women would want.  Personally,  if this were to happen to me I would be horrified.  There really isn't much romance in it.  It more of a struggle throughout the book than mushy love.  I am sure there are women out there that love this type of fantasy but for me.. I would never want to go back to the 16th Century and do all the work she did and end up with what happened in the end.  I would not recommend this book to anyone.

A Knight In Shining Armor by Jude Deveraux

Book #4

This is the next book we have decided to read.  LeAnna (sister-in-law) had it read by the time Bethany and I got to it.  She personally didn't like it.  She didn't like the male main character.  I have started and I am to chapter three and so far it has been interesting and very frustrating.  I really can't imagine a person to be so blind or plain stupid to see what is happening is very ... unfair?  I can't think of the right word to describe it.  Anyways, I will give this book a chance and hopefully it will get a little better and a little less frustrating.

Final Update on Book #2 (Mountain Laurel)

I actually finished this book quite a while ago but I just kept putting off on updating this.  I know I am a slacker.  Anyways.. to the book.   This book was really cute.  I loved the story line and the romance in it.  It was quite a unique story that only Jude Deveraux can come up with.  The two main characters are both stubborn so at times it was sketchy with them and the drama it caused was very interesting to read.  I highly recommend this book.

Update on Book #2 - Mountain Laurel

So far I have made it to the middle of chapter 7.  This book has finally taken off and has gotten me more interested in it.  Its fun watching 'Ring get to know Maddie without her really ever telling him about her.  Maddie is extremely dedicated to the blackmail that is going on and has a lot of strength and all 'Ring wants to do is help her but I can see where she is coming from.  With him knowing everything it could potentially cause harm.   Can't wait to read some more

Thicker Than Water by Maggie Shayne

(On the side) Book #3

This is the book I have decided to read on the side while Bethany and I are reading Mountain Laurel .  I really enjoy how the author is telling this story.  Its very unique and each page is interesting. I am in the middle of chapter 5 right now and so far I am very pleased with the main character.  She (Julie) has already done a lot in this book.  Julie is just like a normal human being and we all have our secrets. She is trying to do everything right and with that comes bad decisions/mistakes.  I am eager to see what happens next

Mountain Laurel by Jude Deveraux

Book #2

The next book Bethany and I have decided to read is Mountain Laurel.  Its a Montgomery family novel and is set in the past.  So far I am to chapter 4.   These are the notes that I have taken so far on the book:

Chapter 1 - They are giving Captain Montgomery an odd request.  Wonder what the deal is

Chapter 2 - Blackmail - always got to love a little blackmail to make a story interesting.

Legend by Jude Deveraux

Book #1

The first book I read for this year.  Bethany also read it.  It is a Bestseller for Jude Deveraux so that must mean its great right?  It had a great story line but the changes and the twists made it hard to follow at times and then once I figured it out all I could think is "how stupid."   The ending wasn't very satisfying either.  I really don't understand how it got on the bestsellers list.  I must have different taste than the majority.  I do love how Jude sends her characters into the past.  In this book she only went into the past to help a family and change certain events.  Now a good example of Jude taking her characters to the past would be Remembrance.  That story was done amazing and you will hear this a lot from me, until a better one is read, that Remembrance was amazing and by far the best I have read of Deveraux yet.

What its all about

This year a friend (Bethany) of mine came up with the idea to keep track of all the books we read. She has created her own blog and this one is going to be mine. My sister (in-law)(LeAnna) has decided to join us on this fun trip. Right now Bethany and I have been collecting Jude Deveraux books because I got hooked and she became my favorite author. Since Bethany, being totally amazing and crazy, bought doubles of a lot of her books we are going to read them at the same time and compare notes. LeAnna will do it to since I got a nook. Though, since she reads a book in one sitting (like 5 hours), she is definitely going to pass Bethany and I up. We each are going to record our readings in our own way. For me, I am going to post chapter by chapter so beware of the spoilers.
